Is there a hotel in or near Red Wing that isn%26#39;t all doilies and floral prints? I%26#39;m interested in something more modern (not Best Western). Thanks!

Treasure Island is only 7 miles from Red Wing. I don%26#39;t recall anything overtly floral there. Maybe 1-12 minutes away.

The 1875 St. James Hotel is right downtown and has 60 individually decorated rooms in old and new wings; the older rooms actually are preferable and not frilly, though some have floral prints -- just ask, if you don%26#39;t want a room like that. It can be overpriced and impersonal, but it%26#39;s well-located and is a good option if you can get a deal.

One of the B%26amp;Bs in town, the Golden Lantern Inn, is a 1934 Tudor Revival and not at all frilly. It has acres of gorgeous woodwork.

And just south of town, the Round Barn Farm B%26amp;B looks old but is newly built, and has some rooms that aren%26#39;t floral or frilly.
