First Timers....

My daughter (16) and I will be going to the Mall of America in mid-June. We are both ';shoopers'; so our only destination in the area will be MOA.

I am looking for suggestions on which hotel to check out. There seems to be a million in that area, so how do you know which one to pick? We are looking for an inexpensive (we would rather save our $$ for shopping) hotel, but it must be CLEAN. No need for any extra ammenities. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, what would be a good lenght of stay?? 3 full days??

We are looking forward to hearing from you.

First Timers....

If the mall is your primary destination, I would focus on the three or four hotels that are literally across the street, so you can each walk back to the room when needed, and don%26#39;t have to wait for the others %26amp; the car.

Country Inn %26amp; Suites at Mall of America

Homewood Suites - Mall of America

Days Inn Mall Of America Arpt

There may be other hotels with free shuttles, that also provide free breakfast. That might help.

Three days would be on the extreme end, and if you were going to do the amusement park and the aquarium, and a movie, and eat at a few places.

There is the light rail from the Mall of America to downtown Minneapolis.

Consider taking that up one night and have dinner downtown. You will have plenty of options, and you%26#39;ll see a different side to the Twin Cities, too.

First Timers....

I think 3 days would be good.

I think this hotel is the nicest and I saw good prices on hotels.com for it. Has shuttle, no breakfast though....

Radisson Bloomington by Mall of America

Star rating: 3.5 of 5

1700 American Blvd E

Bloomington, MN, 55425

866-539-0036

This place has free shuttle to airport and Mall of america and breakfasts

Days Inn Eagan Minneapolis Near MOA

Star rating: 2.0 of 5

4510 Erin Dr

Eagan, MN, 55122

866-539-0036

Both of these were less than $75 a night

I would check out Country Inn %26amp; Suites at Mall of America and also check out Fairfield Inn. Both are within walking distance of the mall. There is something to be said to be within walking distance and not have to spend time waiting for a shuttle or driving, even if it%26#39;s a few more dollars in room rate (not sure if it is, just saying it might be worth the few extra dollars).

Days Inn at MOA is likely an okay hotel as far as cleanliness, if a bit shopworn. However, I have heard this hotel is closing permanently. You may want to call to inquire if you are considering this hotel.

Finally, though not realistically within walking distance and not sure if they offer shuttle service, but there is a Microtel Inn. From what I%26#39;ve seen, basic but seems clean. They seem to be relatively inexpensive.

Thank you everyone for the great input! We will definately be checking out all of your suggestions.

If hotel price is the only concern always recommend you check out Priceline or Hotwire. Bidding will always offer the best room at the lowest price.

Check out betterbidding.com for the hotel list for this area.
