Staying near MOA & going to Target Centre for event - a ??

We are staying that the Fairfield Inn in Eagan near MOA and are going to be attending an event at the Target Center on Friday May 29th.

The doors for the event open at 6 pm and we would like to avoid driving in rush hour traffic, esp. in an unfamiliar city.

From what I am reading, we can park at the 28th Avenue Station near MOA and take the train to the last station - Warehouse District, then walk to the Target Center? Am I correct in assuming this would be the easiest way for us to travel to the Target Center (other than taking a cab of course....)

How long would the ride take and what time should we be at the station to catch the train downtown?

Would it be safe to ride the trains and walk in the Park and Ride parking lots late at night?

I am also assuming that the Park n Ride lots are free - is this the case?

Thanks!

The light rail would be quick and easy for you.

Take the light rail til the end of the line - Warehouse Station. It will be 5th Street.

The Target Center is between 7th %26amp; 6th Streets, so you can%26#39;t miss it.

There%26#39;s plenty of bars / restaurants to choose from if you wanted to go early and enjoy, as well as stay after.

I ride from downtown to airport, and that%26#39;s about 20 - 25 min. Add about another 10 min to go farther to your station.

The lots are free. Some are small and can fill up sometimes in the a.m. for those going to work. The trains are safe as well as the lots. Just have your wits with you.

Here%26#39;s the LightRail page -

Light rail is cheap and easy. And there is no sensible other way to get there other than the train -- even if there were no traffic at the time.

FYI, you buy your ticket before you board, at the vending machine on the platform (or inside the MOA if you get on there). You have to have one if the transit police board and check for it.

Should take 45 minutes to get downtown.

When you exit on to the platform you%26#39;ll be at 1st Avenue and 5th Street. Target Center is in sight, on 7th Street. Head left from the direction train was heading. Stop in at the Loon for a beer.

I think I%26#39;ve solved the problem with finding a hotel downtown. Will take the train the other way to MOA the next day, though! Thanks for all your help.
