restaurant suggestions: lunch & dinner (downtown)

hi there

can you suggest some great lunch and dinner spots near the westin hotel? these are client meetings so I prefer nothing with messy, finger food. no chain restaurants please. thanks!

restaurant suggestions: lunch %26amp; dinner (downtown)

I%26#39;m not a fan of chain places either.

Try the Oak Grill for either lunch or dinner. It%26#39;s an institution, all class. 12th floor at 700 Nicollet Mall.

And of course, there%26#39;s always Murray%26#39;s for steak. I prefer it to Manny%26#39;s, and it%26#39;s closer to the Westin.

You%26#39;ll love IKES - it%26#39;s like a block to the west (right) outta the Westin

They have AWESOME Sat %26amp; Sun brunch too.

If you are into Bloody Mary%26#39;s - they make a killer one.

for dinner maybe Rossi%26#39;s Blue Star Jazz Club - 2 for 1%26#39;s til 7 p.m. - great jazz every night.

Pizza Luce

Sawadtee Thai

Macy%26#39;s 12 Floor - Skyroom - HUGE salad bar for lunch

The Westin is on 6th Street between Nicollet and Marquette. Here are a few suggestions for an upscale lunch or dinner appropriate for client meetings (not too noisy, fork/knife food) that are within 5 blocks of the Westin.

Mission American in the IDS (7th between Nicollet and Marquette)

The Dakota (10th and Nicollet)

Zelo (9th and Nicollet)

Rossi%26#39;s (9th and Marquette)

Vincent (11th and Nicollet)

For starters, there is a great restaurant right in your hotel: BANK, so named because the hotel is in a building that housed a bank for many years. The old vault is a wine cellar. Depending on how many clients you are entertaining, you may what to look into getting one of the private dining rooms.

About a six block walk (or a very short cab ride) is my favorite restaurant in the city, 112 eatery. While it is a very relaxed place, the food is excellent. Just be sure to get reservations about a month (or more) in advance.

If you know your clients like seafood, The Oceanaire Seafood Room is very good. It is located in the Hyatt, also about a six block walk (or another short cab ride).

If you%26#39;re on an expense account that allows the big ticket prices, two places downtown for both lunch and dinner are Chambers Kitchen, located in the Chambers Hotel, and Cosmos, located in the graves/601 hotel. Both wonderful places, with incredible food. Sure to impress, if that is your goal. A good walk, or, again, a short cab ride.

Hope this helps.

i also highly recommend BANK inside your hotel. great location to take clients.

Ike%26#39;s could be a little messy - burgers, appetizers etc. - but is still classy.

so far the other posts have it covered.

If you%26#39;re looking for a great sandwich at where you are (hotel, meeting, whatever) around lunch the lunch cube has some pretty good stuff. they have a website....I think its www.thelunchcube.com .

luce` for pizza is a good one, I%26#39;d stay away from bewitched for the sammies. good stuff but way pricey. They DO have beer though :P

As mentioned before Ike%26#39;s is fantastic!

Rossie%26#39;s is closed - now a much larger Hell%26#39;s Kitchen - great breakfast.

Keys is also great for breakfast - in the Foshay Tower.

Seven on Hennepin is really popular right now - steaks and sushi. Great scene, okay food %26amp; service.

Zelo is great for a drink and some snacks.

Here is a great map of downtown w/ some choices:

When I worked downtown, my favorite view on the whole skyway system was the stretch going through the old Farmers %26amp; Mechanics bank. The main lobby and vault doors were just spectacular. Be sure that you take the chance to stop on the skyway level and just look around and admire the view.

I%26#39;ve never been to BANK, but it looks like the old bank lobby is still gorgeous. You can find photos and a menu at:
