30 Teens, 4 or 5 hours, Minneapolis Fun?

We%26#39;re bringing 30 teenagers to Blaine (for the Ultimate Frisbee Western Championships) in mid May. Although most of our trips with these kids are taken up with Ultimate, we usually get four or five hours to go explore the area, and I%26#39;m looking for things to do in Minneapolis.

In the past, we%26#39;ve done the art museum and sculpture garden in Kansas City, Pike%26#39;s Market and the waterfront in Seattle, etc. Somewhere they can wander, see something to talk about when they get home, have fun.

Also, any places to take these guys to eat on a Friday night?

Thanks for any ideas!

Maybe the downtown Minneapolis RiverFront district ?

There, you could go on a Paddleboat ride -

The Old Spaghetti Factory seems popular with kids - and it%26#39;s close to the river

Are you staying in Minneapolis? By exploring Mpls do you mean the city or the metro area? The area opens up options to St. Paul and other cities, expanding options.

The riverfront in Minneapolis is a nice option because it%26#39;s free and they can see the bridge over the Mississippi to replace the one that collapsed and made national headlines not long ago. And see the only waterfall on the Mississippi River, St. Anthony Falls, which caused the city to become the center of the food making world for a time -- from harnessing the power of the water flowing over to power flour mills. All that info is available at the museum or on the info plaques on the walking circuit that forms a nice scenic and informational walk.

Several dining options in that area. The previously mentioned spot seems appropriate for kids and big groups. Just call ahead of course.

Another option is Fort Snelling in Minneapolis, on the site of where the Minnesota and the Mississippi Rivers meet.

In St. Paul, a free option is Como Zoo. And of course the Science Museum downtown (not free).

Let us know where you%26#39;re staying. Might help create more options.

I definitely think Underwater Adventures is great for teens too in addition to all else available in the area. You have your dining and shopping suggestions here as well. The Universe has the theme park.

MOA will keep you more than occupied I think. Food choices recommended there for teens:

Hope this helps!

If the art museum and sculpture garden in KC was successful, you may want to try it again at the Walker Art Museum.

Across the street is the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, home to the Spoonbridge and Cherry.

If you go to the riverfront, be sure to stop in the Guthrie Theater:

I think the Endless Bridge, between the fourth and fifth floors, and the Dowling Studio Lobby, on the ninth floor, would be popular stopping places:

Depending on when you would be visiting, backstage tours at the Guthrie are a possibility, which might be interesting.

As for eating on a Friday night, how about Buca di Beppo? Those huge platters of food would actually make sense with thirty teenagers in tow!
