October fares & prices

I%26#39;m planning a visit to Minneapolis in October - my dates are fixed so I recognize we won%26#39;t have a lot of flexibility in terms of pricing, but it seems like I typically have seen airfare sales for a certain airline (regional carrier?) for pretty cheap - $40 o/w or so? Any suggestions on when I should start booking hotel/airfare and which airlines to check?

Sorry, I should clarify. When I asked about hotels and airlines with good deals - I do plan on checking Priceline, Orbitz etc - just wondered if there%26#39;s hotels or airlines that regularly go down in price in the fall. I subscribe to the Travelzoo feed and that%26#39;s the kind of things I%26#39;m thinking of. Thanks!

If you%26#39;re in Peoria, I assume you%26#39;d be flying out of Midway. In which case, Southwest likely will be your best bet (though certainly check them all, Northwest included).

I believe fares between MSP and Midway (roundtrip) can be had for under or near $100 -- which is outstanding. Not sure what certain regional carrier you mean, but Southwest should be driving fares down with everyone for that traffic route. Thank god Southwest recently opened up service to MSP.

As for hotels, I have no way of knowing. But October is still a pretty busy tourism time with the fall colors and the great weather. I can%26#39;t really help you -- I%26#39;d just suggest monitoring and checking all the reduced-price sites unless there%26#39;s that one hotel (or location) you have your heart set on.

I hope you%26#39;re not coming the first weekend of October; that%26#39;s the weekend of the Twin Cities Marathon. While our event isn%26#39;t the spectacle the Chicago Marathon is, it does add to tourism and traffic that it might affect prices and availability, particularly for hotels in the downtowns.

You may or may not save a few bucks from the normal $100-$120 airfare, so I%26#39;d book it now if I got a good quote and fare sale (like the one running now).

Hotels: I%26#39;d book a hotel now that can be cancelled and I%26#39;d bid more aggressively on PL or HW now and as I got closer.
