Fun things to do in Minneapolis in March w/2 9 year olds

We are going to Minneapolis in mid March with our two 9 year olds. We will definitely be exploring the Mall of America, etc. (and are staying near it), but I would also like to explore some of the surrounding area. We love parks and hiking, and would love to try snowshoeing, if it%26#39;s not to hard to pick up quickly.

Any suggestions for family fun (indoor and outdoor) would be appreciated. Also, how is the aquarium below the Mall? Is it worth the price and is it usually packed? (The one in Chicago is always packed)

We will have a car and do not mind driving.

Thanks!

Hike around Minnehaha falls park, easy hike, big park in the city, water falls.

Mid march is hit or miss as to weather we will have snow or not. Type in snowshoeing in the search bar for that site and a few options will pop up. If you are in average health, its easy.

Never been to the aquarium, but heard its cool, but expensive.

Walk around the skyway system downtown MPLS. Only do it during the work week from 8-5, otherwise there is nothing going on. Park at the city center, its connected to it. Very warm, good architecture out windows and good people watching. Maybe the kids would be board with that though.

Across the street form the mall of america is a huge indoor water park.

Sunday brunch at the 50th floor of the IDS center. Kinda expensive, but the best views in town.

Maybe your trip has already happened, but I thought I should mention the Science Museum in downtown St. Paul. They have Omni fest right now. It is a great museum.

Visit the sculpure garden at the Walker. The cherry is gone from the spoon for the month, but it is still a great park to spend some time in.

The Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge is really close to the Mall of American and is a nice outdoor visit.
