Grocery Store

We are coming to your city for the Easter Long weekend. We fly in and plan to take the light rail to our hotel - Radisson - downtown. It looks like it is a close walk from the station. Is there a grocery type store close to the Radisson downtown where I can pick up some fruit, etc. ??

Grocery Store

The LightRail will drop you off at 5th Street / Nicollet Mall Station. Walk two blocks south to 7th Street, then take a right, your hotel will be up a 1/2 block, across the street from the Marriott City Center (a mirrored triangle building).

There%26#39;s a Target Store, with very good selection of groceries on Nicollet and 10th, I believe. It%26#39;s a two story Target, and the food section will be on one of the two floors. It isn%26#39;t a full fledged SuperTarget Grocery Store, but they have added fruits / veggies, etc. But you have to buy a ';bag'; of bananas, or a ';bag'; of apples, not just a few.

If you take a quick taxi ride up Hennepin to University, just across the Mississippi River, there%26#39;s Lund%26#39;s Grocery Store. You could walk it but I%26#39;d say maybe 10 blocks ?

That is very helpful - thanks. We are hoping to be able to walk or use the light rail system to enjoy our long weekend in the city.

Keep in mind that liquor stores are CLOSED !! on Sunday, but right next door to the Radisson (out the door, to the left) is Team Liquors. Pretty descent shop for wine / beer / booze / juice.

If you haven%26#39;t booked Easter Brunch - the top of the IDS Tower, a block from the Radisson, has a phenominal bruch, and they do it up special for holidays.

2 blocks to the left of Radisson is O%26#39;Donovan%26#39;s Irish Tavern. One of the few places that gets packed on Sunday nights - they have Kareoke, pretty fun. Open on all holidays too.

We were wondering about a liquor store, thanks. We did the ';Windows On Minneapolis'; brunch last year on our trip there. It was wonderful. We are not sure what to do for Sunday brunch this year.....any other ideas? We have reservation at Hell%26#39;s Kitchen on Saturday morning for breakfast. We also did lunch there last year. This is now our 3rd year coming to Minneapolis and we have sort of turned it into an annual event. We love it!!!

The Nicollet Island Inn Sunday Brunch is pretty good too.

Thanks we will check that out.

Have you been to Nye%26#39;s on a Fri or Saturday night ?

that place is awesome - be sure to visit both sides of the bar - the piano/kareoke bar, and then polka band. It%26#39;s like stepping into 1958.

Have you seen Erin Schwab perform?

She used to play Friday nights at Jitters,

but now you can catch her down the street at a new bar - Tickles.

We checked out Nye%26#39;s last year. We must of hit a ';slow'; night as it was very boring....but quite the place to see.

I checked Tickles website you sent and I think we will try it out on Friday night. Now, any suggestions how to get there? We don%26#39;t mind taking a taxi but if we can use your great transit system to get there then for sure we would take a cab back to the hotel. How is the food there? The menu looks to have a lot of variety.

Have read some reviews on Tickles.......is it a gay bar?

yeah - Erin%26#39;s usual spot, Jitters, is closed %26amp; retooling, so she won%26#39;t be back there til some time this summer. I%26#39;m just waiting it out. I used to go once a month with a group.

I%26#39;ve yet to go to Tickles - I%26#39;m sure you%26#39;re right, but I%26#39;d say it%26#39;d be worth it to see her.

She%26#39;ll play til midnight, and she has a loyal following, so if you do go, call tonight and reserve a table up front - so worth it.

Tickles is maybe 2 blocks north of that Lunds store. It could be walked, but I%26#39;m sure there%26#39;s a bus that takes that route.

Try www.MetroTransit.org, and even call the Transit number - they%26#39;ll walk you thru which route, and where to pick it up, and when the bus comes/goes.
